UEFA Euros 2020 at Potters Fields

A bustling pocket of London for tourists, residents and families alike

Potters Fields – directly opposite Tower Bridge and next to City Hall – is being transformed into one of two London fan parks for the UEFA Euros this summer. The ‘football village’ is expected to have thousands of visitors and residents come together and celebrate, where many of the games will be screened. The reasoning for this to make sure that it is a family friendly environment where people can enjoy the London summer and soak up all the atmosphere of the festival. The ‘football village’ is free to attend and will host a series of cultural entertainments, stalls and of course food and drink.

Potters Fields has been a host to many events in the past such as The Chinese food festival and cultural events such as circus shows and ComidaFest held every August. To have such a thriving green space in the middle of London’s Trade Hub is what makes this area of the city such unique and fascinating place to live and work. The area is so steeped in history that it’s hard not to notice it; the buildings in Shad Thames have been specially named to represent and celebrate the past activity of the Thames during the Victorian era, with names like ‘The Cardamon Building’, ‘Tea Trade Wharf’ and ‘Spice Quay Heights’. Shad Thames was regenerated in the 1980s and 1990s when the disused but picturesque warehouses that dominate the area were converted into expensive flats, many with restaurants and bars on their ground floor level.

To have Potters fields as the central green space in and amongst all these beautiful buildings, with sporting festivals, food and drink stalls and dance festivals throughout the year shows just how diverse and dynamic Tower Bridge and the Shad Thames area is to live. At Anderson Rose, we pride ourselves on the knowledge of this area and the trust and respect that our community has in us; we want to share with you the beauty of the area and so, if you’re looking to buy in SE1 please don’t hesitate to contact us or look at our YouTube channel, we’d be happy to show you our pocket of London.
